Mario Kart: Super Circuit / Tracks / Mushroom Cup
The Mushroom Cup includes the Peach Circuit, Shy Guy Beach, Riverside Park, and Bowser Castle 1 courses. Each of these tracks is very short, with Riverside Park being the lengthiest of the four. Although you will be able to cut a few corners and find an occasional shortcut, all these courses are straightforward with none of the diverging routes that you’ll find in the more advanced cups.

Peach Circuit
Map Numbers
1. Refrain from attempting to cut this corner; the two trees and course boundary can easily slow you down. You can steer through the trees if you insist, but it's a high-risk maneuver that doesn't save you enough time to make it worthwhile.
2. This is by far the best hairpin turn to cut across. Not only is the grass shorter here, but the trees are widely spaced. To avoid getting stuck, hop into a power-slide on the grass just in front of the trees.
Two For One: If you have a Mushroom ready to go, power-slide on the street until you approach the trees, and then use the Mushroom to cut across the grass toward the next turn. The Mushroom should give you enough boost to cut across the grass on the following turn, as well.
Note: There are 50 coins total on this course.
Course Overview
The Peach Circuit course, like it's namesake, is gentle and non-intimidating. This beginner's race-way is a great place to become familiar with the various characters and the differences in how their karts handle. The course is short with no on-street obstacles or jumps and you can memorize it with ease. The predominant features of the Peach Circuit are the S-turn after the start line and the hairpins on the back half of the course. These turns and zigzags are broken up by very short straight-aways.
Hazards
The only hazards on this course are the trees that adorn the insides of most turns. Should you hit one without the invulnerability power of the Start, your kart will come to an abrupt halt. Don't worry; running into trees might slow you down, but it does leave your Coin collection intact.

Shy Guy Beach
Map Numbers
1. Cut past the two coconut trees at the edge of the island and out onto the small island to find 16 Coins. Aim for this island on each lap, and you just might collect all 16.
2. Beware the cannonballs being shot at you during this stretch. Although they will rarely hit you, you'd be wise to keep a look out just in case.
3. There are a lot of Coins to be had on the outer portion of this island.
4. Power-slide your way through the water to use the left of the beach umbrella to nose out your opponents at the finish line.
Note: There are 50 coins on this course.
Course Overview
Mario Kart: Super Circuit wastes no time in getting you off-road, and the Shy Guy Beach course is most definitely off-road! More a doughnut-shaped chain of small, flat islands than a racetrack, Shy Guy Beach is guaranteed to put your power-sliding ability to the test. And if you think your only obstacle will be deep water, you're in for quite a surprise. Not only is there a small army of crabs marching about, along with a couple of immovable beach umbrellas, but there is also a pirate ship firing cannonballs at you!
Hazards
In addition to the unyielding beach umbrellas near the finish line, the following hazards let the air out of your tires, so to speak.
- Crabs: Lose four Coins and spin out of control.
- Cannonball: Lose four Coins and spin out of control.
- Deep Water: Lose two Coins and sink.
Tip!
Put the Brakes on it: Just because a crab walked out in front of you doesn't mean you have to suffer. Quickly press the B Button to apply the brakes as you collide with the obstacle to retain control of your kart. If you're successful, a small musical note will appear over your character. This technique will slow you down a bit, but it is much better than the alternative.

Riverside Park
Map Numbers
1. Angle your kart just to the left of the Dash Pad and Coins on the far side of the river.
2. Use caution when taking the shortcut! You'll end up in the drink if you're just the slightest bit crooked.
3. Take your time when getting these Coins; you'll make it up by taking the shortcut on the next lap
4. Power-slide around the circle and line up with the dash pad. Don't be afraid to let up on the gas if your headed into the grass on the right. If you hit the dash pad at too much of an angle, or too slow, you'll not clear the road.
Note: There are 50 coins on this course.
Course Overview
Riverside Park is the longest and most challenging course in the Mushroom Cup. Not only is the water deep and the track windy, but the two long jumps on the course could spell disaster for those who come up short. When you consider that both the coins locations and a valuable shortcut will lure you dangerously close to deep water, it's a wonder that this isn't a boat race!
Hazards
All of the dangers of racing through a park are presented here, such as trees, flowers, and mounds of dirt. Of course, all of these obstacles are located off the main road and will stop your progress only if you run into them.
- Deep Water: Lose two Coins and sink.
Tip!
Stillwater: Unlike Shy Guy Beach, all of the water at Riverside Park is light blue. However, there is still a way to tell which is kart-friendly and which will swallow you whole. The deeper water appears to be flowing, so if you see water that remains a solid light blue color, it's safe to drive on.

Bowser Castle 1
Map Numbers
1. Keep your finger on the accelerator and steer hard to the left to drift through these to right angle turns.
2. Bear to the left and snag an extra five Coins on each lap. Just be sure to power-slide back to the right to enter the chicane at a good angle.
3. Line up the left to grab the Coins between the third and fourth jumps. Keep a finger ready near the B Button, just in case a flame hits you.
4. Avoid making two turns to get through this tight chicane. Instead, swing wide to the right as you clear the statues on the straight-away and aim your kart for the corner of the rough spot on the side. Keep it steady and drive straight through the gap and on to the Coins ahead.
Note: There are 50 coins on this course.
Course Overview
Danger lurks around every turn at Bowser Castle! There are plenty of turns-that's for certain. The first of four Super Circuit courses in Bowser Castle takes you on a quick trip through the flaming dungeon, where you will encounter monstrous hopping statues, leaping flames of death, and lots and lots of lava. All of the heat has apparently damaged some of the track, so you had better avoid the darker colored areas, as they will slow you down tremendously.
Hazards
If there's one thing you can count on when paying Bowser a visit, it's flaming hot lava! Of course, being fricasseed isn't the only danger at Bowser Castle 1. No, you could also be squished by one of his many possessed statues.
- Block Statues: Lose eight Coins and get flattened.
- Flames: Lose four Coins and spin out of control.
- Lava: Lose two Coins and sink.
Note: There is only one flame jumping in and out of the lava at each gap, and it does so in the same location. Like the other obstacles that make you spin out of control, you can save some time and Coins by pressing the B Button as soon as the flame hits you.
Note: No matter how slow you are going, as long as you hit the jump strip straight on, you will clear the gaps and not land in the lava.
Please continue to the Flower Cup.
