Mario Kart: Super Circuit / Tracks / Lightning Cup

Things really start to get interesting in the Lightning Cup. The Luigi Circuit, Sky Garden, Cheep-Cheep Island, and Sunset Wilds courses will test all of your driving skills. Whether it’s dodging puddles on the rain-soaked Luigi Circuit or flying from cloud to cloud at Sky Gardens, you can bet that your competitors will have their signs set on you. You’ll definitely need the shortcuts these courses contain if you’re to win.

Luigi Circuit

Map Numbers
1. Perform the power-slide turbo when rounding this tight turn to get just enough of a boost down the straight-away and into the next turn.

2. Corners such as this one are the best ones to cur across. Aim for the last brick on the course boundary and power-slide over the slick grass.

3. 14 Coins can be obtained by keeping to the center of the road through this section. Also, this is a great spot to use a Mushroom if you've got one.

4. Keep to the middle of the road through this turn and you'll be in a great spot to collect the Coins lined up for you.

5. Do your best to power-slide turbo coming out of this final turn. The finish line is just ahead and it can be he difference maker.

Note: There are 50 coins in this course.

Course Overview
The Luigi Circuit stands out from the other courses in Mario Kart: Super Circuit by being the only one to take place in a rainstorm. And if having to leap over puddles while racing wasn't enough of a challenge, this course boasts more hairpin turns than any other, as well.

Hazards
In addition to the trees that you have undoubtedly come to expect on the Circuit courses, the above mentioned puddles can really mess up your bid for the checkered flag. Although they won't affect you while you're driving slowly, rolling over one at top speed will send your kart into a dizzying spin; at least you don't lose any Coins.

Sky Garden

Map Numbers
1.Line up with the rightmost Item Box and use a Mushroom to blast across the gap via the jump strip near the edge of the cloud.

2. Get an extra bounce in your step via the jump strip on the right. Keep the kart straight and pick up one row of Coins on each of your first two laps. Skip the jump strip on the final lap.

3. Slide your back wheels out and aim your kart for the small cloud before the bridge. Quickly hop onto and off the cloud to avoid having to cross the bridge.

4. If you missed the first shortcut and have a Mushroom handy, line up with the row of Coins here and use the Mushroom to leap across the void. Angle the kart to the right to land safely on the bridge.

Course Overview
Now this is a heavenly course! Sky Garden takes you on a jaunt through the clods for an amazing scenic race. Long straight-aways broken up by short, tight turns keep things exciting, as the threat of plummeting back to earth is omnipresent. The lure of no less than three cloud-hopping shortcuts makes this danger all the more real.

Hazards
In case you skipped the Course Overview, this race takes place on a network of clouds. There are no guardrails - you can fall. Any questions?

- Falling: Lose two Coins and plummet to the ground.

Cheep-Cheep Island

Map Numbers
1. Stay to the right as you approach this bridge and hop over the water instead of banking through the chicane.

2. Stay on the sand until you get close to the threes, and then power-slide through the grass toward the edge of the course boundary. Get your kart pointed toward the Dash Pads on the left.

3. Use a Mushroom immediately before you hit the grass and drive straight for the jump strip near the water. Don't alter the direction of the kart while you're in the air, and you'll land on one of two small, floating docks. From there, you'll bounce off a jump strip onto the pier.

4. Ignore the Dash Pad on the far left side of this pier and feather your kart through the turn and onto the pier instead. Be mindful of which sections have guardrails and which do not, as one wrong bounce can land you in the water.

Note: There are 50 coins in this course.

Course Overview
Cheep-Cheep Island is at first glance a very long course that snakes around the island, over bridges, and across sandy beaches. Then, as you get to know your way around, Dash Pads and a very useful shortcut help to slash your lap times. Nevertheless, even with the help of a big time shortcut, falling into the water can cost you the lead.

Hazards
In terms of obstacles, this course is a combination of what you faced at Riverside Park and Shy Guy Beach. Although the crabs are a different color, the narrow bridges and docks are surrounded by kart-swallowing water. A little tap on the brakes as you turn can really help keep the water out of your tailpipe.

Another obstacle is the occasional guardrail on the bridges. While it definitely helps to keep you from sliding off the bridges, it can also keep you from successfully leaping over the corners.

- Crabs: Lose four Coins and spin out of control.
- Deep Water: Lose two Coins and sink.

Sunset Wilds

Map Numbers
1. Press the R Button to hop across the mud bog on the stepping stones.

2. Hop mover the bumps to land on the Dash Pad. Try to hit either of the ones in the front row so you can jump off the bump behind it.

3. Hit the front-right Dash Pad to boost your kart across the mud toward the Dash Pad on the back-left of the bog.

4. Steer clear of the teepees by driving along the left edges of the Dash Pads. Gently turn your kart to the left as you hit the Dash pads to follow them around the arc.

5. Activate a Mushroom just before hitting this jump strip to soar over the adjacent straight-away and into the final stretch. Angle the kart to the left to land facing the right direction.

Note: There are 50 coins in this course.

Course Overview
Giddy up, little doggie, it's time to load up the chuck wagon and take this race out west. Sunset Wilds take you on a meandering journey through cowboy country. And while there may not be any cattle to herd, you will have to dodge totem poles teepees, and the occasional cactus if you're to make it to the finish line in one piece.

Hazards
As if the gravelly road surface and intermittent mud bogs weren't hazardous enough, this track leads directly through a Shy Guy village. You'll have to dodge several teepees as you snake through the village on a series of Dash Pads if you want to maintain any speed. Of course, other desert objects such as rocks, cacti, and totem poles can be found on the insides of most turns.

- Teepees: Lose five Coins and be forced to slow down as an angry Shy Guy jumps aboard your kart.
